Because they bring absolutely everybody together. Weddings, corporate events and Christmas parties all have one thing in common. You’ll usually have people in the room who don’t know each other.I’ve seen it countless times, people arrive, sit with their own group and stick to the people they know.

Then the singing starts.

One of our longest running Christmas party residencies is at Sprowston Manor, where companies book tables for their Christmas parties. At the start of the evening, each table sticks together. By the end of the performance, you’ve got 250 people who were complete strangers half an hour earlier joining the same conga line and singing together. That’s the magic of it. It creates a shared moment and gives people permission to relax, have fun and get involved.

This varies between companies and depends on several factors including location, travel requirements and the number of performers.

Our prices currently start from:

• £675 for one singer
• £925 for two singers

Although the performance itself lasts around 30 minutes, it’s often a 10-12 hour day for us once preparation, travel, venue coordination and setup are factored in. We can also offer an extended 45 minute performance if you would prefer the surprise to last a little longer.

I’ve been performing as a singing waiter for over a decade and I even had surprise performers at my own wedding. In fact, I had two surprises. One thing I’ve noticed when attending weddings now is just how much difference entertainment can make during that part of the day when guests have eaten, had a few drinks and energy levels naturally begin to dip. The performance keeps everyone together, it lifts the atmosphere and creates a talking point. And most importantly, it creates memories.

Years later, guests may not remember what they had for dinner, but they’ll remember the moment the tray hit the floor and the room erupted.

This is probably searched more than most companies realise. And honestly? If you choose the wrong company, yes, they can be.

Poor singers, overly long reveals, cheesy speeches, fake arguments, making guests feel uncomfortable. None of those things appeal to me either.

What we’ve always focused on is getting straight to the fun part. The surprise happens quickly, the singing starts almost immediately and nobody is forced to do anything. The atmosphere feels natural, inclusive and fun.

That’s the difference.

Yes. Even after all these years, people often assume everyone has seen singing waiters before. The reality is very different as most guests have never experienced them, and even if they have, nobody wakes up on a Saturday morning expecting singing waiters to appear at the wedding they’re attending.

The tray drop works particularly well because it’s over so quickly and by the time guests have registered what’s happening, the singing has already started.

As a general guide:

• 1 singer: Up to 30 guests
• 2 singers: 30-100 guests
• 3 singers: 100-150 guests
• 4 singers: 200+ guests

In an ideal world, we aim for roughly one performer per 50 guests. This allows us to move around the room, interact with guests and ensure the performance reaches everyone. Two singers also unlock a much wider range of songs thanks to male and female duet combinations. Of course we completely appreciate that this is dependant on budget.

Our standard performance lasts around 30 minutes and includes approximately eight songs.

We can also offer:

• 45-minute singing waiter performances
• Optional encore sets
• Evening party sets

If you’d like us to keep the party going for longer, we absolutely can.

Absolutely. We have a very large song list that you can choose from and we’ll guide you based on experience, but the final decision is always yours. We would never force you to have songs you don’t want.

My job is simply to help you choose a set that reflects your personality whilst also working well for your guests.

Every wedding or event is different. Drinks receptions, buffets, three course meals, BBQ’s… The best timing depends entirely on your plans.

For traditional wedding breakfasts, once everyone is finishing off dessert is often the perfect moment, however, we’ll discuss this with you and recommend the best option.

Yes we do. We provide our own PA system and microphones at no additional charge, this is included within our pricing.

Our system comfortably covers most weddings and events up to around 200 guests. For larger events, we may recommend a professional AV company.

If you’re planning a destination wedding, we can also coordinate directly with your venue or planner regarding equipment requirements. We’re able to travel with the majority of our equipment (microphones, mixing desk and all necessary leads), all we’ll need to plug in to would be speakers.

In most cases, yes. The majority of venues are very familiar with singing waiters and surprise entertainment. The main consideration tends to be sound restrictions, particularly for outdoor weddings or venues with sound limiters.

We’re experienced in working with venues and will coordinate directly with them to ensure everything runs smoothly.

Absolutely. I had 48 guests at my own wedding and it worked perfectly.

We’ve performed at birthday parties with 10 guests and intimate celebrations with even fewer. One memorable event was a birthday celebration for Prime Minister Theresa May whilst she was in office and there were just 22 guests.

The size of your guest list doesn’t determine whether your event deserves great entertainment.

This is something I feel all couples silently consider when booking singing waiters, but hand on heart, it’s incredibly rare.

Song choice does plays a huge part. That’s why we’ll guide you towards songs and moments that naturally encourage participation.

We’re never forceful, nobody gets dragged onto a dance floor, nobody gets singled out. Our job is to create an atmosphere where people feel comfortable joining in if they want to.

And in our experience, they almost always do.

Whilst it’s rare, it can happen. One of the benefits of working with an established company is having a dedicated team.

If somebody is unwell or unavailable due to circumstances beyond their control, another experienced member of the team will step in.

Yes. Many of our performers are active in the West End, touring productions and other professional contracts, so requests can never be guaranteed.

However, we’ll always do our best to accommodate them.

Absolutely, this is where we came from!

Our team includes performers who have appeared in productions such as Phantom of the Opera, Les Misérables, Jersey Boys, Cats, Choir of Man, Hercules and Saturday Night Fever.

Musical theatre weddings are some of my favourite weddings to perform.

Yes, we work with exclusive saxophonists, percussionists and other musicians who can enhance the experience even further.

Absolutely. Destination weddings are one of my favourite parts of the job (including my own!).

There’s something incredibly special about being trusted to travel overseas and perform at one of the most important days of someone’s life.

Very well. In fact you may be surprised to hear that corporate events account for a significant proportion of our bookings every year.

The key is choosing the right songs. Action songs work particularly well because they give guests a reason to get involved and help break the ice quickly.

Honestly? Not a huge amount.

Different companies use different terminology. You may come across singing waiters, surprise singers, secret singers or undercover waiters and the concept is broadly the same.

Professional performers blend into your event before revealing themselves in a surprise performance.

Where companies differ is in the quality of performers, level of experience, execution and overall atmosphere.
