How it Works

Throughout the entire process, we at Undercover Artists strive to make your secret singers experience as simple and as easy as possible. From booking to performance, we take care of everything including venue co-ordination, liaising with your catering team, equipment and certificates, so that you don’t have to. Below we will take you through our singing waiters process.


How To Book

From the initial enquiry we will discuss your event in detail, find out a little bit more about what you have planned, and when the best time for our performance to start would be. This is dependant on a few factors, such as if you’re having a 3 course meal/buffet/hog roast, or even canapés only. We can tailor our performance to what you have planned, and if you have other entertainment scheduled. We will then get a feel for the type of music that you like and assign the singers most suitable. Once confirmed, we do advise that you inform your venue that you have booked us, and then we can take it from there!


Event Planning

After booking you can sit back and relax, knowing that you have secured the best singing waiters for your event! 5 weeks before your date, we will be in contact to arrange our planning call together. We will also send over our full repertoire list, plus a recommended short list of about 25-30 songs to help narrow it down. These songs will be tailored to suit the singing staff that have been assigned to you, they’re also guaranteed floor fillers and is a great place to start as we understand that sometimes a huge song list can be a little overwhelming. If you have a particular style of music that you would like (from modern pop, Musical Theatre and Classical) please let us know so that we can make appropriate suggestions. During our planning call we will discuss all timings together in case anything has changed since booking, song choices, and other event details. Our venue co-ordinator will then speak to your venue to introduce ourselves, confirm all the details we have discussed, and organise uniform.


The Performance

It’s the day of your event! Our undercover waiters will arrive incognito 2 hours before guests are due to arrive to set up and soundcheck. We allow plenty of time so that we don’t give the surprise away, and from there it’s time to act as waiters. We will then change into the uniform of the venue to start helping with basic duties throughout the Wedding Breakfast/Meal/Buffet, such as - pouring wine, refilling empty water jugs and clearing empty glasses away. This is just enough to get us noticed, and to build a rapport with your guests. We also answer any questions your guests may ask (we’ve become professionals at learning where the restrooms are or if there’s any extra gravy left!) all before the performance starts during dessert. From there on out, it’s all about you and your guests, creating the best atmosphere possible and providing unforgettable memories (all with incredible vocals of course).

How Does the Surprise Start

After our team has spent your meal “blending” in with the rest of the wait staff, it’s time for the performance to begin. We’re all about creating a positive atmosphere and getting your guests up and involved. We are there to help the venue and enhance your experience, so there’s no cheesy speeches or arguments from us, we’re purely there to get everyone up and having a good time. Our preferred method is the “tray drop”. Once your guests are finishing off their desserts, one of the team will fall with a tray of cutlery to gain everyone’s attention. It’s not necessarily about “seeing” the fall, it’s all about the noise to start the performance. Don’t just take our word for it, check out the video of Tobias doing what he does best!
