As someone who has spent the last 11 years performing at weddings as a singing waiter (and has recently gotten married myself) I thought I’d put together a guide on what I genuinely think couples should be looking out for when choosing the right company for their wedding day.

Of course, I’d love for that company to be us, but this isn’t about a hard sell. After performing at hundreds of weddings every year, I’ve seen exactly what works, what doesn’t, and what can make the difference between a good performance and one your guests are still talking about years later.

Check Who Will Actually Be Performing

This is probably the biggest piece of advice I can give.

When you’re booking wedding entertainment, it’s easy to focus on the videos, reviews and how much singing waiters cost, but it’s also worth asking who will actually be turning up on the day.

Some companies operate as large agencies and may bring in performers from extensive databases or external contacts. Whilst there’s nothing wrong with this, it does mean that the people performing at your wedding may never have worked together before.

We’re a small team and every performer you see on our website is someone we know personally and perform with regularly. We don’t outsource performances to other companies and we don’t search for random singers online to fill dates. Not all wedding singing waiters come from the same background.

For us, having professional performers has always been incredibly important.

Every member of our team has trained professionally and has gone on to perform in the West End, UK Number One touring productions, onboard cruise ships or in professional theatre and entertainment roles around the world.

“Can we choose the songs?”

The answer is always yes.

We’ll happily guide you and make recommendations based on what works well, but ultimately it’s your wedding and your entertainment. If you don’t want ‘Sweet Caroline’ (even though it’s our no.1 most recommended song’ then we won’t force you to have Sweet Caroline.

If there’s a song you absolutely love, we’ll do everything we can to include it. If there’s a song you absolutely don’t want to hear, that’s equally important.

Some couples want a classic wedding breakfast entertainment set with plenty of singalong favourites. Others love musical theatre, swing, modern chart music or even classical crossover.
